I personally had a great experience. Lots of communication through email, text and phone calls. I always felt in the loop and that the entire team were working hard throughout the entire process to keep me updated and make everything as easy as possible. Always let me know what I needed to get done on my end, let me know what they were doing on there end and always had time to answer any questions that I had. I honestly appreciate everything they did to help my family get into our home.

We used Veterans United because another Veteran has been using them for years for multiple houses. That recommendation was well earned.

Service was good, I do not agree with the 5k application fee. I was under the impression that the VA loan was to help veterans, not bene them over the barrel adding 5k to their loan. If I had a chance, I would seek another lender and put 5k toward my house, not to a lender who’s intentions are not clear.

Response from Veterans United

Hey Brett,
I really appreciate you sharing this feedback. I can understand how frustrating it must have felt to see the VA funding fee added to your loan amount, especially when the program is meant to help veterans become homeowners. It’s a common point of confusion, and you’re not alone in feeling that way.

The funding fee is actually a charge required by the Department of Veterans Affairs, not by Veterans United. It’s collected by the VA to help keep the benefit available for future generations of service members and veterans. We know it can still be a tough cost to see, and we always want to make sure it’s clearly explained early in the process.

We appreciate your feedback and the chance to improve how we communicate these details. If you’d like to talk through how the VA funding fee applies to your specific loan, my Client Advocate team would be glad to connect. You can reach us at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com.

We’re available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time and will follow up the next business day if you reach out after hours.

John Parker and the entire team at Veterans United made the whole house buying experience smooth. No unexpected surprises. They had the answers to any questions and guided me through the process with professional expertise. I would use them again and recommend them to any veteran who wants to purchase a home.

Veterans United and First Premier were both awesome in handling me and my home buying experience. The 1st 2 houses I looked at were waaaay over priced. The 3rd one was it and we love it. Both teams were able to work tirelessly to make my dream home happen.

Every part of the experience was better than expected. From the beginning it was explained how it would go and rough figures provided. The figures were accurate or better in our favor! They said it depended on our response timeliness and providing what was asked for would help us move along or slow us down. I've had car buying experiences that were by far worse. From getting pre-qualified to close was about a moths time. That included house hunting, inspection, appraisal, and land survey. Thank you so much!!!

Okay, so we're not going public with this tidbit folks, okay! But I really never knew there was a storage building, workshop with this property until we got to closing, really! It was not discussed, nor was it included in the "virtual tour" with the Realtor. Until the Title Company said the plat wasn't correct, but in the contract is stated that the owner's had up until closing to have it properly surveyed BEFORE the closing! Now, the way I see it, had that been done properly, regardless of what the "local" folks had been advising we would of had this thing all wrapped up over a month ago on the original closing date in my novice opinion. And, the survey would of been done to "favor" the current owner's interest, not mine since I didn't have any interest in the work shop, not knowing it wasn't part of the sale in the first place. So, here's a thought for someone else in this situation down the road. Why not make absolutely sure that survey's are conducted when survey's need to be done, period. That way there are no excuses, no mistakes, no makeovers, no reasons to delay closings in the future. I was lucky enough to have a family like the Stuwe's to allow me to move in with my household goods and not have to put things in storage, incur the cost of a hotel for a month like someone else may of had to do. Thank God for that!

I was amazed at how easy this home buying experience went like a well oiled machine operated by such a wonderful Veterans United VA Home Loans team. They are the top-notch elite group of advisors, coworkers, and fellowship brothers and sisters. It has been 42 years since buying our first home and we were scared but the A Team guided us through it very smoothly.
